What PrintBench can tell you
PrintBench 0.1.0 is a software-tested alpha. Physical printer, driver, viewer and scanner combinations are not yet qualified.
The first release
- 100 × 150 mm and 4 × 6 inch stock; 203- and 300-DPI-generated test PDFs.
- One-page raster PDFs with exact media dimensions and fixed Code 128 / QR payloads.
- User-entered measurements, visual observations and exact keyboard-input comparisons.
- No account, server-side processing or direct printer connection.
Software evidence and limits
The repository tests exact PDF dimensions, source pixels, dot placement, quiet zones and repeated generation. An independent PDF renderer and barcode decoder recover both values from the rendered symbol regions. Whole-page automatic discovery misses Code 128 on the 4 × 6 / 203 render in the tested decoder, although the symbol region decodes. These checks do not establish physical print quality or a barcode verification grade.
Automated desktop tests target Chromium, Firefox and WebKit. These are browser-engine checks, not certification of installed browsers, mobile devices or printer drivers. Your PDF viewer may scale a page unless actual size is selected.
Keyboard scanners
USB, Bluetooth and wireless receivers can work when they present as a normal keyboard. The app listens only in an explicitly armed field. It cannot identify the device, distinguish typing from scanning or read raw hardware reports. Browser keyboard handling, IME, scanner configuration and the OS may alter input before the app sees it. Physical scanners and IME are unqualified.
Outside this release
Custom label sizes, high-density grades, printer discovery, QZ Tray, ZPL, USB/HID/serial access, print queues and background printing are not included. Use a normal PDF viewer and printer driver.
