## A repeatable test beats another guess

PrintBench provides known test PDFs with page dimensions, reference marks, Code 128 and QR symbols. The preview uses the same PDF bytes you download. You supply the physical observations: the application cannot see whether a label actually printed.

## How to use PrintBench

1. **Choose the stock and DPI.** Select 100 × 150 mm or 4 × 6 inches, then the known printer resolution. If unsure, the app uses a 203-DPI-generated geometry test; it does not detect your hardware.
2. **Print one copy at actual size.** Open the PDF in your usual viewer. Match the paper dimensions in the viewer and driver, choose actual size or 100%, and turn off fit or shrink.
3. **Measure, scan and record.** Confirm the printed fixture identity. Measure both reference lengths, record visible problems and scan each supported symbol into the armed field. Review your report before downloading.

## Same encoded value, separate physical checks

The test fixtures share fixed barcode payloads. A matching scan therefore cannot identify the sheet or prove its page size. Read the fixture ID on the paper and measure the references as separate checks.

## Questions

### Will this send a job straight to my printer?

No. You download or open a PDF and use your normal viewer and printer driver. PrintBench does not discover printers or use QZ Tray, ZPL or background printing.

### Can I use a one-dimensional scanner?

You can check Code 128 with a suitable keyboard scanner. Leave QR untested if your device cannot read it. A text match does not constitute a barcode verification grade.

### Is this a custom label designer?

No. These are fixed diagnostic fixtures. Use FactoryCards for simple 100 × 50 mm bin cards, or explore SmartFACT Labels for production labelling.

## Current scope

Prepare fixed Code 128 and QR test PDFs for 100 × 150 mm or 4 × 6 inch stock, generated at 203 or 300 DPI. Print through your normal PDF viewer and driver, record observations and measurements, compare keyboard scans and download reviewed local reports.

This is a software-tested alpha; physical printer, driver and scanner combinations are not yet qualified. PrintBench does not connect directly to printers, inspect queues, calibrate hardware, grade barcodes, design custom labels or discover printer DPI. Its fixtures cannot check the size of FactoryCards' 100 × 50 mm cards.

## Privacy

Measurements, notes and scan values stay in browser memory. No account, uploads or tracking scripts are required. Test PDFs and preview assets load from this site. Downloaded reports are redacted by default; review before sharing. Reloading loses the session. Hosting may log ordinary requests.
